@abraham i dont agree with you, and beside how did you arrive at you answer!!!

Well this is my solution to the equation.
From the above equation, if u substitute y with 2. The equation becomes
2= (1/2 * x ) + 6
therefore 2 = x/2 + 6
==> 2 = x + 12/2
==> cross multiply the resulting equation. You will get
 x + 12 = 4
x = 4 - 12
x = -8
